Puff, Puff Give!!

I’ve been a non-smoker for more than three years now.
It’s my lot to spend a lot of time in bars. Most times, the bars are smoky. When I get home at night, I reek of stale cigarette smoke. The smell clings to my clothes like a fixated ex-girlfriend who just won’t stop calling, even though you broke up years ago.
So, I’m not too upset about a statewide smoking ban. Yes, it’s nanny legislation, and I typically decry such tomfoolery, but I’m also happy about not having to breathe in other people’s second hand smoke any longer.
But I also know better than to get excited about it. Because it will fail in the courts. And here’s why:
Apparently, liberals in Colorado think that people who work in Casinos should die.
Yes, that may be a little melodramatic, but it’s pretty spot on. You see, by bending to the casino lobby, the newly revised legislation stuck butts back in the maws of casino goers, while restaurants and bars saw their patrons’ fags stamped out before they could walk in the door.
What we’re left with is a law steeped in inequity that will fail 4th amendment testing—much like what happened in New Jersey recently—and thus completely derail the new smoking ban before anyone can so much as install a new ash try out front of their business.
Ah well. Better keep that dry cleaning tab open.
