Funny Sad true story that happened this weekend:

June 1st, 2005 · No Comments

The phone rang. Amy picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Hello,” a female voice on the other end replied. “Is this the residence of the Dave Flomberg who writes a column for the Rocky Mountain News?”
“Why?” Amy retorted. She’s a great screener.
“Well, I’m in from Nebraska, and I’m a huge fan –I read his column every week.”
“….”
“And, uh, anyway, I was wondering if he could recommend some fun places to hang out tonight in the Thornton/Northglenn area…”

I was asleep during this exchange–suffering from the Siberian Flu (which, incidentally, my doctor calls, no kidding, the 100 day flu). Amy woke me to tell me I had a fan on the line. I was too groggy to respond at the time and waved her off. She let the fan down nicely, and then relayed the call to me later…I was blown away. Do people call Denerstein at home and ask him to recommend a good movie for the evening? Or Lehndorff to suggest a good restaurant on the North side for steak?!

Now I gotta get an unlisted phone number…
>sigh<
