Dear Alex
(and every other democrat who blames me for voting Libertarian and not liberal),
I understand your grief and sadness. I know you feel abandoned and alone. I know you feel like some great travesty has been committed.
News Flash: it’s your fault.
You picked the wrong horse.
You bet on the wrong pony.
You hitched your wagon to the wrong train.
Don’t blame me because you picked the one Dem running who couldn’t beat an eminently fallible and beatable opponent.
Don’t blame me because you picked the one guy whose war record was even more scurrilous than his opponent.
Don’t blame me because you picked the one guy who’s voting record was even less moderate than his opponent.
Don’t blame me because you picked the one guy who managed to sit on more sides of an issue than all of his contemporaries combined.
Kerry was a lamb. You democrats ought to be ashamed of yourselves for leading him to this slaughter. All of the swing voters in the country begged you to give them an option—provide an opponent worthy of voting for.
And your entire argument? What you hung the next four years of our lives on?
“He’s not Bush.”
I’m sorry, but my vote’s worth more than that. My vote is worth more than, “Just because he’s not the devil that you do know.” My vote’s worth more than this tired, waffling hack you propped up on your rickety and plastic pedestals.
So I stuck to my guns. I cast my protest vote. I voted for neither.
Sadly (for the left), the 3 million other swing voters out there decided to bat right.
If you’re looking for someone to blame, look elsewhere…
If you’re a democrat, I’d start with a mirror.
